Old announcements:
KisoCD 0.5.6 is out since 08.03.
--------------------------------
In 0.5.5 I forgot a pair of brackets and on some systems it didn't compile
because of this. So it's just a bugfix...
KisoCD 0.5.5 is out since 04.03.
--------------------------------
Changes that have been made:
* bugfix: when updating from an older version, 0.5.4 produced an error
concerning the available speeds and there were none to choose from.
* Giving the name of the special file of the writer isn't needed
anymore. If it is left blank the scsi-address is used instead. May
need current cdrecord, don't really know...
* Biggest allowed buffer-size is determined from kernel-sources.
* Using "~/.kde/share/apps/kisocd/" instead of "~/KisoCD/".
about KisoCD 0.5.4
------------------
Dear users,
obviously the implementation of a new feature (variable speed-list)
hasn't been thoroughly tested.
First thing is: If you have problem because there are no speeds to
choose from or get an error message or maybe KisoCD even locks up your
system while starting: remove the file "~/KisoCD/.config" (in roots
directory if you login as root via the provided script or in the users
directory if you don't).
If you have further problems, please report them!
One user even has the problem that the menubar disappeared..someone else?
If there really is a problem it may not be solved as quick as usual,
as I don't have to much time at the moment, but I'll do my very best.
KisoCD 0.5.4 is out since 23.02.
--------------------------------
Changes that have been made:
* Docs translated to german! Thanks to Martin Kerz!
* small fix concerning two system-options when global
configurationfile is used.
* List of available speeds can now easily be changed via one of
the config-files; added 12x and 16x.
* Speed is selectable for blanking CDRWs.
* some messages changed...
KDE2-port: the version on the website is the most current I got...I
installed a new KDE2-version which caused strange errors. Things will
go on with the next version I'll install...
The first alpha-version (0207a) of KisoCDII is released
-------------------------------------------------------
KisoCDII is the KDE2-version of KisoCD; there are few differences at the
moment. Note that things may not work as you expect and that KDE2 is not
usable for every-day-work yet. Please use KDE 1.1.X and KisoCD instead.
This version was written and tested with the KRASH-release of KDE2.
Languages beside english don't work, online-help may not work, the
quick introduction does not work and the framework for the latex-file is not
copied to the place where KisoCDII expects it. The other things should be OK
but are not thorougly tested.
I'm now using "kdesu" instead of a shellscript in an xterm to log in as root.
If you prefer the old method, copy "kisocdII.desktop_su" to "kisocdII.desktop".
To install it you need to do more than the usual three steps, this time it's
make -f Makefile.dist
./configure
make
make install
KisoCD 0.5.3 is out since 26.01.
--------------------------------
Changes that have been made:
* Changed layout of mainwindow, added tooltips.
* kisocd.sh: If root-login fails, KisoCD is started anyway.
* Now KisoCD handles closing via window-buttons just like exiting
from menu, so you are asked if you want to save unsaved data, if
any.
* KisoCD and its docs translated to hungarian! Thanks to Köteles
Ferenc!
* The latex-file for the traycard is automatically compiled before
viewing/printing if needed.
* again changed/translated some messages
* KisoCD now examines the output of subprocesses a little more and
behaves better on certain errors.
* When writing from imagefile, the file is no longer automatically
deleted after the "guided" process (file|burn cd).
* cleaned up code, restructured some parts, small fixes
The port to KDE2 had little progress last days. Some basic things are
running, but nothing useable yet.
KisoCD 0.5.2 is out since 04.01.
--------------------------------
Changes:
* bugfix in the detection of cd-writers again:
"Well, there is a very small part of code, but until today I had to
find a lot of mistakes in it...should now be OK...."
That's what I wrote last time...but it's a never-ending-story, indeed.
Thanks to Wolfgang Scherer who noticed the latest bug in this part of code.
Wouldn't it be a good idea if there was at least one of you who wants to
support KisoCD and tests the recognition of devices with every new release
of cdrecord? I really don't have time to do that...
* changed some of the english messages to more descriptive ones
* i18n: Everything is prepared for the translation of the program and the
help-files! Already did the german translation for the program, help
files are still missing. So if you want to help (-->translate! ...and
believe me, chances are good that your native language is missing),
please contact me!!
* some other minor changes
* "-pad"-option can now be given to cdrecord. Basic patch send by Wolfgang
Scherer. Thanks!
Beside that, KisoCD's homepage has undergone a really big redesign and I
started work on KisoCD for KDE 2...at least KDE 2 is up and running (as much
as one can expect from an alpha release).
KisoCD 0.5.1 is out since 22.12.
--------------------------------
Well, there is a very small part of code, but until today I had to
find a lot of mistakes in it...should now be OK....
So the only change from 0.5.0 to 0.5.1 is this bugfix for people whose
writers were not correctly recognized before:
- writers which identify themselves as "WORM"s
- writers on x,0,0 of the SCSI-bus with cdrecord older
than 1.8a26
By the way: a merry Xmas and a happy new year!
KisoCD 0.5.0 is out since 20.12.
--------------------------------
Well, unfortunately there hasn't been as much feedback as I expected,
but the multisession thing seems to be OK, so there is a final
0.5.0-release.
It mostly includes minor changes to the user interface, like close-buttons
for some windows which had none before, less confusing messages and things
like that. The only important change is the way you can tell KisoCD the name
of the special-file for your writer. For those of you you couldn't manage to
set it via the fileselector there now is also an editline.
I hope to convert KisoCD to Qt2.X and KDE2.0 as soon as possible and add a
bunch of features, which where quite hard to implement with Qt1.44, so that
it becomes even easier to use.
If you want to support KisoCD, your mail with bug-reports and hints for
enhancements is welcome!
Support for other languages than english needs to be added, so if you
want to translate it, please mail me! Do also mail me if your are a native
english-speaker and don't feel so well with my english documentation, part
of the homepage or whatever!
By the way: a merry Xmas and a happy new year!
KisoCD 0.5.0pre3 is out since 21.11.
------------------------------------
As you see in its version-nr, it is kind of a beta-release, as
multisession hasn't been heavily tested.
If you have got a rw-device, please support this project and
check out if you can make multisession-CDs without problems.
PLEASE report them if there are some!
In this state, please do also report any success with multisession...
Of course you can also try multisession if you don't have a
rw-device, but I won't pay for your CDs...
Changes:
- Cleaned up the code, no important warnings at compilation time anymore.
- Now you can see cdrecords progress in the subprocess window.
- Enhanced handling of bootable cds: you don't have to worry about
directory-structure anymore and predection of the cd's size became
more accurate.
- Finally KisoCD is able to make multisession CDs!!!! Its way to do it is
similar to the method used with bootable CDs, so here you don't have to
worry about directory-structure, too.
- Finally fixed errors with parsing "cdrecord -scanbus". Now it also recognizes
the output of cdrecord 1.8a26 and later. In 0.4.3 I was wrong to say that
the format had changed--before 0.4.3 I only was able to parse one special
case of the "old" format. However, now both of them should work fine.
- Enhanced handling of errors.
- Some minor bugfixes.
- Complete rewrite of the option-dialogs. Now I think they "feel" OK.
- Now a mounted image gets remounted if you changed and recreated it.
